Growing Your Own Food

Learn how to grow fresh produce for yourself and the community at local community gardens in Charleston
Growing Your Own Food

Learn how to grow fresh produce or volunteer to help grow food for the community at one of the Community Gardens around Charleston! Don't have a green thumb, or don't know where to start? These gardens provide weekly training sessions to volunteers and new gardeners. Don't have space for your own garden at home? The Charleston Parks Conservancy offers individually leased gardening plots from September 1 - August 31 each year on a sliding scale from $60-$100, with first option to renew. These funds go directly to the Community Garden Program, and you can take home any produce you grow. Produce may also be donated along with produce from the community garden beds for the Grow It Forward program, which distributes produce to those in need in the community. Fresh produce may also be offered for free to volunteers who donate their time to community gardens. See the link for more information.
